About Jolly Productions
Hi, I'm Holly Pollock, director of Jolly Productions and based in Auckland. I'm a passionate TV and video producer, presenter, marketer, creator and solution provider. I've been working in the media industry for over 20 years in radio (both here and in the UK) and TV.
I've written and produced various TV and radio campaigns and I've made over 1,000 episodes of my successful day-time TV show The Cafe which aired on Three for 5 years. As a lean production, I wore a lot of hats including research, content creation, scripting the show, presenting, production management and ensuring that our sponsors' products and brands were effectively integrated within the show.
I’ve worked with some of the biggest NZ and International brands and celebrities to create engaging editorial and commercial content in the video space.

How much will it cost to make a video?
We can work with you to provide great looking and effective video content for a range of budgets.
Example: 1-minute explainer or testimonial video you have already scripted and will be filmed in the same location can start from approximately $1,500.
Top Tip: The cost can be dramatically reduced by filming multiple videos during the same filming period and in the same location. If you want three testimonials the best option is to film all your clients in the same place one after the other. We will always discuss the most cost-effective production schedule options with you.
What's involved in the video production process?
Every project is different, but generally, the production process can be broken down into three phases:
Pre-production: This is when we work with you to learn all about your business and together define what it is you need from video. Some of the questions we might explore are: Who is your target audience? What platforms do you want to publish on? What are the key messages you want to communicate?
From there we’ll create a video outline and/or detailed script, confirm budgets and arrange any filming dates with you.
Production: ‘filming’. Our crew will capture all the required footage – such as interviews, event footage or product demonstrations. We might film at your premises, at our studio or at some other locations relevant to the video messages.
Post-production: Once we’ve captured all the footage we’ll get to work on the edit, crafting the footage into a coherent narrative and adding graphics, titles and music as appropriate. You’ll have a chance to review one or more drafts and give feedback before everything is finalised and then delivered.
What input is required from us?
First, we’ll arrange a face-to-face meeting or ask you to fill out a short questionnaire to help us understand the project requirements. From there you can have as much or as little input into the scripting, filming and editing as you’d like. In any case, we’ll keep you informed at every step of the process.
We’re also happy to work from a full script or storyboard provided to us.
What about graphics, branding, music and voice-overs?
Alongside the filming, we’ll create any motion graphics required for the video. These could range from a simple animated logo to a series of stylish infographics.
Not every project requires a voiceover, but when it does we can provide you with a range of different voiceover samples to choose from and we’ll take care of the rest.
When a background music track is required we can source a suitable track from a royalty-free music library and provide a license for usage in the finished video.
What about a presenter or other talent?
Careful consideration is needed when choosing a presenter for your video. If you are the face of the brand then ideally you should present the video. If this scares you we can help with some coaching.
If however, you need a professional presenter that can demonstrate products, read autocue or act, we will provide a range of talent options that match the look/feel of the video.
Can you produce my TV show or brand film?
Yes if you have the idea and budget! We work with experienced TV and filmmakers who can develop, write, produce and post produce standing by.
How long should my video be?
This will depend on where you are sharing your video but up to 2 minutes is the sweet spot (after this the drop off in engagement is significant). However, Facebook conversion rates are highest for videos 16-20 seconds. Some video placement requires a predetermined length like commercials and platforms including Tik Tok. When creating a video for sites like YouTube they can be a lot longer but it’s important to keep your audience in mind.
